Roles & Responsibilities

• Receive and reprocess reusable surgical instruments with precision and care
• Clean, inspect and sterilize instruments and equipment according to protocols
• Prepare instrument trays, sterile linens and supplies so procedures run smoothly
• Distribute reprocessed supplies and assist with pulling and prepping case carts
• Participate in inventory control to maintain adequate stock and reduce delays
• Assist with safe transport of patients and equipment between departments as needed
• Follow strict infection control and safety procedures to protect patients and staff
• Communicate clearly with surgical and perioperative teams to support efficient workflows

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional sterile processing certificate is a plus
• Certification such as CRCST or CBSPD preferred and supported when needed
• Prior sterile processing experience preferred; ability to demonstrate instrument knowledge
• Current immunizations and willingness to complete background and health screenings
• Comfortability with physical demands such as lifting instrument trays and standing for shifts
• Basic computer skills for tracking inventory and processing documentation
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; Sterile Processing Technician certificate preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with sterilization methods and sterilizer operation
• Ability to identify surgical instruments and assemble instrument sets accurately
• Knowledge of infection prevention and aseptic technique
• Skills in inventory control and case cart preparation
• Good communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Ability to follow written protocols and maintain thorough documentation
