Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients with urgency, compassion, and clinical confidence
• Provide treatments and procedures common to urgent care (wound care, splints, basic procedures)
• Administer medications, IVs, and maintain accurate medication records
• Collaborate closely with providers and the care team to create clear, effective plans
• Document patient care thoroughly and timely in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about aftercare, red flags, and follow-up plans
• Maintain safety standards, infection control practices, and department protocols

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (required)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Urgent care, emergency department, or fast-paced ambulatory care experience preferred
• Comfort with per diem/overnight shifts and the ability to work independently
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and communication skills
• Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS) a plus depending on site needs

Education

• ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) or BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) — BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and triage skills in urgent care settings
• Wound assessment and basic procedural skills (wound care, splinting, suturing support)
• Competence with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation practices
• Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-volume or fast-changing situations
• Excellent team collaboration and clear patient/family education abilities
