Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to keep patients safe
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips per protocol and escalate when needed
• Provide skilled IV therapy, start and maintain IVs, and assist with PICC care
• Perform phlebotomy and support blood product administration as required
• Respond on rapid response/code teams and participate in emergency interventions
• Chart thoroughly and accurately in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Assess and manage respiratory support including HFNC and oxygen therapies
• Care for feeding tubes, tracheostomies, and support post-procedure patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — PT, RT, Pharmacy, Social Services — to optimize outcomes
• Deliver compassionate care for adults and geriatric patients with varied diagnoses

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas or compact) — expected for practice
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience in acute care/telemetry (1st timers may be considered)
• Current BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Proven experience with telemetry/cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Proficiency with Epic charting (required)
• Comfortable floating between units and working a 3x12 night schedule
• Ability to manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line basics, and respond to rapid response calls
• Orientation: 24 hours pre-approved orientation time

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring, including remote and unit-based monitoring
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of arrhythmias
• IV therapy, phlebotomy and basic PICC line management
• Familiarity with Epic electronic charting system
• ABG interpretation and respiratory support including High Flow Nasal Cannula
• Feeding tube care, wound care basics, and post-procedure nursing for cardiac patients
• Use of rapid response/code teams and emergency response workflows
• Understanding of heparin protocols, post cardiac cath care and cardiac drip management
