Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality progressive care for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable medical/surgical patients from admission through discharge
• Perform skilled assessments and intervene early for patients at risk of deterioration, using advanced monitoring and clinical judgment
• Operate and manage advanced medical equipment, including ventilatory support (invasive and noninvasive), arterial and central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and multiple IV pumps
• Interpret cardiac telemetry and EKGs, titrate IV therapies, and manage continuous bladder irrigation as needed
• Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans and discharge planning
• Serve as a clinical leader and preceptor: mentor staff, provide direction to RN/LPN/CNA and support unit workflow
• Document patient care thoroughly and maintain professional nursing standards while delivering emotional, spiritual and cultural support to patients and families

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure required
• Degree from a Nursing Program required
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
• Practice in an advanced medical/surgical unit with recent Progressive Care or Critical Care nursing experience is required
• EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
• Comfortable with precepting, discharge planning and directing interdisciplinary support staff

• Progressive Care and Critical Care nursing principles
• Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Mechanical ventilation (invasive and noninvasive) management
• IV therapy, multiple IV pumps, central and arterial line care
• Chest tube management, nasogastric tube care, continuous bladder irrigation
• Advanced assessment skills and ability to operate advanced medical equipment
• Pediatric patient experience preferred
