Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients
• Perform thorough pre-op assessments and document care in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about pre-operative instructions and expectations
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure safe patient flow
• Prepare patients physically and emotionally for procedures, prioritizing safety and comfort
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
• Experience or strong interest in pre-operative care and pediatrics
• Current BLS required; PALS or pediatric-focused certifications preferred
• Comfortable working with children and communicating clearly with families
• Able to function well in a fast-paced surgical/pre-op environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team

Education

• ADN or BSN in Nursing preferred; equivalent nursing diploma considered
• Active RN license in Missouri

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric patient assessment and age-appropriate care
• Pre-operative preparation, patient teaching, and safety protocols
• Familiarity with infection control and perioperative practices
• Medication administration and IV management skills
• Clear clinical documentation and effective communication with families and team members
• Ability to follow facility policies and work within an interdisciplinary team
