Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU
• Continuously monitor, assess, and document patient status and respond to changes rapidly
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and manage advanced support such as ventilators as appropriate
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
• Support families with clear communication, education, and emotional support during stressful times
• Participate in orientation and unit training to ensure safe, high-quality care and smooth transitions

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Experience or clinical background in Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) or neonatal/pediatric critical care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, or willingness to obtain
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with families

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pediatric critical care assessment and monitoring
• Familiarity with ventilator care and hemodynamic monitoring
• Medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Comfortable with family-centered care and sensitive communication
• Electronic medical record documentation and basic computer proficiency
• Teamwork, adaptability, and a calm presence under pressure
