Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced pediatric critical care nursing for PICU patients with clinical precision
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Monitor complex patient conditions, interpret data, and respond quickly to changes
• Administer medications and therapies safely while following evidence-based protocols
• Educate and support families through critical illness with compassion and clarity
• Participate in unit orientation and help mentor new staff to build a strong team
• Document patient care accurately and communicate changes during handoffs

Qualifications

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (or compact license where applicable)
• Clinical experience or interest in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) settings
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) highly recommended
• Strong critical thinking, assessment and medication administration skills
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care
• Willingness to participate in required orientation and unit-specific training

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Ongoing professional development encouraged; specialty certifications welcomed

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in pediatric critical care assessment and intervention
• Familiarity with ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and advanced pediatric equipment
• Ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Competence with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
• Skilled at family-centered care and providing clear, empathetic education
• Teamwork-oriented mindset and resilience under pressure
