Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional, patient-centered nursing care in the Progressive Care/PCU setting, managing complex post-op and surgical trauma patients
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and respond quickly to dysrhythmias and changes in patient status
• Manage and titrate IV drips and cardiovascular medications safely and according to unit protocols
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and document care in the EMR (Meditech) with attention to detail
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, techs, and support staff — to coordinate timely patient care
• Provide attentive monitoring for patients post cardiac cath, post-op CV surgery (hemodynamically stable), and other critical stepdown cases
• Deliver compassionate patient education and family communication during high-stress situations
• Float to stepdown/service lines as needed (Progressive Care Unit / Heart & Vascular Unit)

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the U.S. (state licensure required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical nursing experience (PCU/telemetry experience preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification (required)
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, IV drip management, and cardiac med titration
• Strong customer service and communication skills; team player who adapts to changing environments
• Meditech EMR experience preferred; trauma and orthopedic experience a plus

Education

• Active RN licensure (Registered Nurse) — required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring best practices
• IV pump and drip management for vasoactive and anticoagulant therapies
• Recognition and initial management of cardiac dysrhythmias and ACS
• Frequent patient assessment skills (Q4 vitals and focused assessments)
• Familiarity with stepdown/PCU patient populations (post-op CV, trauma, neuro, GI bleed, PE, CHF, sepsis stable)
• Proficiency with Meditech or comparable EMR systems
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and crisis communication
