Registered Nurse - PACU (Peds)
Location: St. Louis, Missouri

Contract Type: Per-Diem
Candidate Pay Rate: $54 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate postoperative care for pediatric patients in the PACU
- Monitor vital signs and assess recovery status to ensure safe transitions
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and protocols
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and patient families for seamless care
- Document patient status and interventions accurately and promptly
- Educate families on postoperative care, discharge instructions, and follow-up
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Missouri) or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience or strong interest in PACU and pediatric nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) encouraged
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Comfort working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary perioperative team
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric postoperative assessment and monitoring
- Pain assessment and safe medication administration for kids
- Familiarity with PACU workflows, handoffs, and discharge criteria
- Skilled in patient/family education and compassionate communication
- Ability to respond to emergencies and escalate appropriately
