Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in the operating room
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure adherence to OR protocols
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Prepare operating room, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures
• Monitor patient status and document care accurately in the medical record
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity and comfort throughout the surgical experience
• Participate in quality improvement and infection control initiatives to keep standards high

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact/state equivalency as allowed)
• Previous Operating Room (OR) experience preferred and valued
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, CNOR) preferred
• Strong perioperative assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Current immunizations and any facility-required health screenings

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and surgical instrumentation basics
• Familiarity with perioperative workflows and OR safety protocols
• Skilled in patient assessment, monitoring, and documentation
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize tasks and remain calm in high-acuity situations
