Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care for patients on K9A Oncology/Women’s Surgical
• Administer medications and supportive treatments safely and document care thoroughly in Cerner
• Perform focused assessments and monitor patients undergoing procedures such as pelvic exams, echo and thoracentesis
• Maintain appropriate patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5) while prioritizing patient safety and comfort
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—CNCs, CNAs, HUCs and physicians—to coordinate excellent care
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, symptom management and discharge instructions
• Adhere to unit policies, dress code, and hospital guidelines while serving as a reliable team player

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be in good standing) — RN licensure required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (as listed in the job profile)
• BLS certification required
• Chemo certification preferred (candidates with chemo certification will be considered first)
• Experience or comfort working in oncology and medical-surgical settings
• Ability to work night shifts and scheduled weekends; team-player attitude and willingness to learn

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong oncology and medical-surgical nursing knowledge
• Experience with Cerner EMR for documentation and charting
• Comfort performing and assisting with procedures (pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis)
• Excellent clinical judgment, patient assessment and medication administration skills
• Time management and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced unit
• Team collaboration and strong communication with patients, families and clinical staff
