Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care for adults on a 24-bed unit
• Administer treatments and manage chemotherapy-related care when certified, following safety protocols
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor for changes (vitals, labs, symptom progression)
• Document care clearly and efficiently in Cerner to ensure continuity across the care team
• Coordinate with physicians, CNAs, and ancillary staff for procedures like thoracentesis and echo monitoring
• Educate patients and families about treatments, side-effect management, and discharge planning
• Maintain safe patient ratios and prioritize tasks to deliver high-quality, timely care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (oncology experience strongly preferred)
• BLS certification (required)
• Chemo Certification (preferred / nice-to-have)
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and supporting weekend coverage
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing knowledge including chemo safety and symptom management
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and med administration
• Ability to manage patient loads with ratios typically around 1:4 or 1:5
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient education skills
• Clinical skills to assist with and monitor procedures like thoracentesis and echoes
