Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based oncology nursing care to adults on the K9A Oncology/Women's Surgical unit
• Administer chemotherapy and other medications safely and according to facility protocols
• Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor for changes overnight, and intervene as needed
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR
• Coordinate care with physicians, CNAs, HUCs and the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient transitions
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, symptom management and discharge instructions
• Support unit safety and quality initiatives by following hospital policies and best practices
• Participate in occasional procedures or assists (e.g., pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis) as appropriate

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (Oncology or Med-Surg experience preferred)
• BLS certification (required)
• Chemo certification preferred — candidates with chemo experience will be prioritized
• Experience with Cerner EMR is a plus
• Able to work overnight shifts and scheduled weekends, and comfortable with a patient ratio commonly 1:4 or 1:5
• Team-player attitude, willingness to learn, and a patient-centered approach

Education

• Active RN license (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and chemo administration
• Med-Surg nursing competence and familiarity with standard unit equipment
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for overnight patient monitoring
• IV therapy skills and safe medication administration practices
• Comfort assisting with or responding to occasional procedures (pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis)
• Effective communication and collaboration within interdisciplinary teams
