Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, direct nursing care to Med-Surg patients during night shifts
• Plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care and adjust care plans based on patient responses
• Administer medications and intravenous therapies skillfully and safely
• Perform accurate, timely nursing documentation and maintain patient confidentiality
• Assess and prioritize patient needs using sound clinical judgment and gathered data
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other departments for continuity of care
• Support and enforce infection control policies and participate in orientation and in-service training
• Remain calm and resourceful in emergencies while guiding and supporting unit personnel

Qualifications

• Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience (Med-Surg experience preferred)
• Healthcare Provider BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within 6 months of hire
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well
• Experience with rotating shifts, weekends, and holiday coverage is a plus

Education

• Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (as listed in job posting)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Accurate nursing documentation and charting skills
• Infection control practices and adherence to hospital policies
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to prioritize workload and remain composed during high-stress situations
• Familiarity with Med-Surg patient needs and discharge planning
