Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on the Neuro Stepdown unit
• Perform focused neurological assessments and monitor telemetry and vital trends
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care thoroughly
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update plans of care
• Educate patients and families on condition, care plan, and discharge needs
• Respond promptly and effectively to changes in patient condition, escalating as needed
• Participate in unit quality initiatives and maintain accurate clinical documentation

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligible for state licensure
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or required by facility
• Clinical experience caring for neurological or stepdown patients is highly valued
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking skills
• Comfort with telemetry monitoring, infusion therapy, and common neuro interventions
• Ability to work collaboratively on a fast-paced unit and communicate clearly

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Neuro-focused assessment and monitoring techniques
• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Medication administration and IV therapy competence
• Documentation best practices and attention to detail
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
• Ability to triage and escalate clinical concerns appropriately
