Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for neuro stepdown patients using critical thinking and evidence-based practices
• Perform focused neurological assessments and monitor changes in patient status closely
• Safely administer medications, manage IV therapy, and titrate drips as ordered
• Continuously monitor telemetry and other hemodynamic parameters; respond promptly to abnormalities
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to create and execute patient-centered care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning in a clear, supportive way
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for Louisiana licensure
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred
• Clinical experience caring for neuro stepdown/SDU or progressive care patients preferred
• Comfort with telemetry monitoring and rapid recognition of neurologic/medical deterioration
• Able to pass required background checks and facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neurological assessment skills and familiarity with neuro-focused interventions
• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Experience with critical care monitoring and early detection of patient decline
• Proficient medication administration and IV/infusion management
• Excellent communication, prioritization, and teamwork in fast-paced settings
• Accurate clinical documentation and handoff practices
