Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor clinical status
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
• Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
• Document patient care and clinical changes clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and discharge plans
• Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers and supporting teamwork

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact RN where applicable)
• Clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred or as required by facility
• Comfortable working 12.5-hour shifts and providing hands-on patient care
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and time-management skills
• Ability to pass facility onboarding requirements (background check, immunizations, etc.)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing principles and best practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy proficiency
• Patient assessment, wound care, and post-operative monitoring skills
• Electronic health record (EHR) documentation and charting
• Ability to prioritize and triage in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative approach to interdisciplinary care and patient advocacy
