Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate critical care to adult ICU patients during overnight shifts
• Monitor and interpret complex vital signs and telemetry, intervening promptly when needed
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and titratable drips per MD orders and hospital protocols
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists — to coordinate patient care
• Perform thorough shift-to-shift handoffs and accurate documentation to ensure continuity of care
• Respond to rapid response or code situations with calm, evidence-based actions
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge planning in an empathetic manner
• Maintain a safe environment by following infection control, safety, and unit-specific policies

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in California (must be valid prior to start)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred
• Prior ICU experience preferred — comfort with ventilators, drips, and critical care monitoring
• Current ACLS and other unit-specific certifications as required by the facility
• Ability to pass facility-required background check and drug screening
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work independently on overnight shifts

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment skills for critically ill adults
• Proficiency with telemetry, ventilator management basics, and vasoactive infusions
• Skilled in prioritization and multitasking during high-acuity situations
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical record familiarity
• Team-focused mindset with clear, calm communication under pressure
• Knowledge of infection control practices and patient safety protocols
