Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, rotating 12-hour shifts (EOW nights), includes weekend nights (Friday–Saturday) and some weekend day coverage as needed; schedules posted 4 weeks in advance, evening/overnight coverage (night shift)

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, high-acuity care in the CVICU/ICU/PCU — manage complex post-surgical and cardiac patients
- Manage mechanical ventilation: troubleshoot, assist with weaning and coordinate with RT when available
- Titrate and manage critical care drips (pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants) safely and accurately
- Interpret ABGs and telemetry strips — you will read your own monitors and act decisively
- Perform rapid response and code blue interventions as needed and serve as a reliable team responder
- Care for patients with advanced devices and therapies: CRRT, IABP, Impella, VADs, TAVR, chest tubes, Swan-Ganz, EVD
- Provide thorough patient assessments, documentation in Cerner, and collaborate with intensivists and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in float rotations across units and support staffing needs across critical care areas
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to practice in Arizona)
- Minimum 2 years of critical care nursing experience preferred (cardiac/CVICU experience a plus)
- BLS and ACLS required prior to start
- Strong EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation skills; clinician must pass the dysrhythmia exam (score ≥80% within two attempts) prior to contract
- Comfortable titrating drips and managing complex infusions
- Experience with mechanical ventilation, ventilator weaning and troubleshooting
- Experience or strong familiarity with CRRT/Prismaflex and IABP is preferred
- Willingness to float across ICU/PCU/MST and participate in weekend/holiday rotations
- Must meet facility radius/employment rules (no FT/PT/PRN at CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities in the past year and within the 50-mile radius requirement)
Education
- Active RN license in good standing (Arizona)
- BSN preferred but not required
- ACLS and BLS certifications required prior to start
- Unit orientation: hospital orientation (8 hours) plus unit preceptor 12-hour shift and second 12-hour buddy shift (additional check-offs for specialty skills as needed)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and ability to read/interpret strips independently (Nihon Kohden monitors on unit)
- ABG interpretation and arterial line management
- Mechanical ventilation management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC and Vapotherm familiarity
- Hands-on skills: manual proning, chest tube management, Swan-Ganz catheter care, EVD management
- Experience with CRRT (Prismaflex) and familiarity with IABP, Impella and VAD device basics
- Comfort with Cerner charting and common hospital documentation workflows
- Strong rapid assessment, critical thinking and bedside decision-making in emergent situations
- Able to function as part of multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, RT, and NPs
