Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced critical care to complex cardiac, post-CABG, and transplant patients with calm, expert nursing
• Manage ventilators and perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring to optimize patient outcomes
• Lead and participate in ACLS-guided resuscitations and urgent interventions when minutes matter
• Document care clearly and timely in Meditech and deliver bedside shift reports with the team
• Collaborate closely with intensivists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary staff to coordinate complex care plans
• Educate and support patients and families through high-acuity procedures and recovery
• Adhere to unit policies, safety protocols, and Beacon-level quality standards to maintain excellence

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will not be accepted)
• Minimum 2+ years of ICU experience; CVICU or cardiac ICU experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proven experience with hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Experience caring for post-CABG patients; ECMO and heart transplant experience is a strong plus
• Comfort with floating to other ICUs or PCU as needed and working rotating weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing for adult cardiac and surgical patients
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of invasive lines
• Advanced ventilator management and ventilated patient care
• ACLS/BLS/CPR protocols and emergency response
• Meditech documentation system experience preferred
• Familiarity with CVICU procedures, ECMO, and post-op cardiac care
• Strong bedside communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
