Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based critical care to adult ICU patients
• Continuously monitor hemodynamics, ventilators, and life-sustaining therapies
• Administer medications and titrate drips safely, documenting changes in the chart
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team on care plans
• Respond promptly to emergencies and participate in rapid response or code events
• Educate patients and families with compassion and clear communication
• Contribute to unit quality improvement initiatives and best-practice standards
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the facility electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license in Louisiana or Compact RN licensure
• Minimum critical care experience (ICU) — typically 1+ years preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills in high-acuity environments
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to unit staffing needs
• Professional, team-oriented attitude with excellent communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting telemetry
• Experience with mechanical ventilation and ventilator weaning protocols
• Familiarity with central line, arterial line, and other critical care devices
• Medication administration and infusion pump competency
• Comfortable using electronic medical records and documenting complex care
• Prioritization, multitasking, and crisis management in a fast-paced setting
