Shift Type: Rotating nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour night shifts); includes weekends. Schedule follows participative scheduling (minimum 3 weekend shifts/month). Night shift / critical care; travelers should be prepared to float to PCU/medical-surgical as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, hands-on critical care for SICU patients — manage post-open-heart patients for 1–2 days post-op
• Perform and manage advanced procedures including intubations, CRRT, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Care for patients supported by Impella devices and advanced monitoring platforms
• Respond as a member of the critical care rapid response and code blue teams
• Document clinical care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care and enhance patient experience
• Adapt to unit needs by floating to other areas as required while maintaining standards of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for Tennessee or compact licensure where applicable
• Minimum 2 years of ICU / cardiac critical care nursing experience (explicit requirement)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (required)
• CCRN certification a plus — brings extra recognition for your critical care expertise
• Comfort and experience with hemodynamic monitoring, intubation, CRRT and caring for post-open-heart patients
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Ability to work nights, weekends and float to other units as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of cardiac critical care principles and postop open-heart management
• Skill with hemodynamic assessment and advanced monitoring platforms (e.g., Hemosphere)
• Experience with Impella device care and troubleshooting
• Competence in performing and supporting intubations and CRRT
• Clinical decision-making in high-acuity, fast-paced environments
• Clear communication, teamwork, and patient-focused bedside manner
