Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population in a community hospital ED
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans for patients with a wide variety of conditions
• Triage patients (note: agency RNs do not triage here) and prioritize care based on acuity
• Monitor telemetry and interpret EKG strips
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-levels, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and perform procedures as needed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Cerner EMR
• Float to other Sacramento facilities as needed (mid-shift float rare)

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license in California or compact state
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ED experience
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with Cerner EMR system preferred
• Must pass Dysrhythmia exam (Relias) within 24-48 hours of offer
• Must not have been employed directly by CommonSpirit (CHI/Dignity) within the past year

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting EKG strips
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Flexibility to float and adapt to changing assignments
