Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population in a Level I Trauma Center
• Manage trauma, sepsis, chest pain, stroke, and other high-acuity cases
• Perform rapid assessments, interpret telemetry strips, and administer critical drips
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, mid-levels, and support staff
• Float to the Observation Unit and Freestanding Creighton ER as needed (at least once a week)
• Participate in pass/fail exam during orientation to ensure readiness for high-stakes environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state
• Minimum 1-2 years of recent Level I or Level II Trauma ER experience required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required (NRP preferred)
• Valid driver's license (required for submittal to confirm radius rule)
• Ability to pass open-book exam with 90% during orientation
• No artificial nails allowed in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

• Expert knowledge in emergency and trauma nursing
• Proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Flexibility to float between units and adapt to changing patient needs
