Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients quickly and compassionately in the emergency department
• Provide direct patient care including medication administration, IV therapy, and wound care
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff to coordinate efficient patient flow
• Monitor and document patient status accurately in the charting system
• Respond to emergencies with composure and evidence-based clinical interventions
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain unit safety standards

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — ability to practice in Hawaii preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) strongly preferred
• Comfortable working 12+ hour ED shifts and managing a fast-paced patient load
• Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Previous emergency department experience is preferred but motivated new-to-ED RNs are welcome

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and rapid assessment skills
• IV insertion and medication administration competence
• Familiarity with emergency interventions and acute care protocols
• Ability to document clearly and concisely in electronic health records
• Team-oriented mindset with strong situational awareness and prioritization
