Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct, high-quality patient care to medical/surgical and critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions.
Operate and manage advanced medical equipment, including multiple IV pumps, arterial lines (A-lines), central lines, chest tubes, and ventilators.
Assess patients continually and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision to ensure safe, effective care.
Serve as a clinical leader on the unit — guide and direct RNs, LPNs, CNAs and support staff while collaborating with providers and nursing leadership.
Precept and mentor new staff, sharing best practices and helping build a strong, competent team.
Manage patient flow from admission through discharge, including comprehensive discharge planning to support safe transitions.

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure required.
BLS and ACLS required; PALS, EPNC, and TNCC are preferred.
Recent practice in an advanced medical/surgical unit plus recent critical care nursing experience required.
Demonstrated ability to operate invasive line equipment and ventilator support and to act as a clinical leader and preceptor.

Education

Degree from an accredited nursing program (ADN, BSN or equivalent).

Knowledge & Skills

Advanced nursing principles and procedures for critically ill medical/surgical patients.
Proficient with arterial lines, central lines, invasive line care, and chest tube management.
Experience with ventilator support and advanced patient monitoring systems.
Skilled in using multiple IV pumps and managing complex medication/infusion regimens.
Strong clinical leadership, communication, and team collaboration abilities.
Competent in policy and procedure implementation and discharge planning.
