Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to keep patients safe
• Read cardiac strips accurately and act on dysrhythmias per hospital protocol
• Titrate amiodarone and diltiazem (Cardizem) down only, as patients require
• Provide high-quality med-surg nursing care for surgical, orthopedic and oncology patients
• Collaborate with physicians, RT, pharmacy and nursing aides to coordinate patient care
• Document care and assessments using Cerner to ensure accurate patient records
• Support unit flow at a 1:4 patient ratio on both days and nights
• Participate in required skills validation including dysrhythmia exam and sim lab

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Arizona
• Minimum 2 years recent nursing experience, with telemetry experience required (recent defined as within past 6 months)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (2 attempts max) and a pass/fail sim lab on day one of orientation
• Competence reading cardiac strips and titrating down amiodarone and diltiazem safely
• Valid driver’s license required and must not live within 50 miles of the facility
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and floating to MedSurg Tele units

Education

• Active RN license (state authorization to practice)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• MedSurg nursing for surgical, orthopedic and oncology populations
• Experience with GE central monitoring systems
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting
• IV skills and working with limited IV team resources
• Ability to work in a paced acute care environment and follow unit protocols
• Use of Spectralink phones and call-light workflows
