Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and create individualized care plans
• Provide medical nutrition therapy for inpatient populations with compassion and clinical accuracy
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other care team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting interventions as needed
• Educate patients and families about nutrition-related disease management and discharge planning
• Ensure accurate charting and compliance with facility and regulatory standards
• Manage tube feeding and specialized nutrition support when indicated
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and nutrition-related committees

Qualifications

• Active Registered Dietitian credential (RD or RDN) required
• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field; ACEND-accredited program preferred
• California state licensure or ability to obtain CA authorization as required
• Previous inpatient or acute care experience preferred (new grads with clinical rotations considered)
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (ACEND-accredited program preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for acute care patients
• Nutrition assessment and development of individualized care plans
• Experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition principles
• Comfortable using electronic health records for documentation
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and effective patient/family education
• Familiarity with regulatory and documentation standards in healthcare
