Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions and restorative care
• Implement treatment plans, run therapeutic exercises, modalities, and mobility training to improve patient outcomes
• Monitor and document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the therapy team
• Train patients and caregivers in safe transfers, home exercise programs, and use of adaptive equipment
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient-centered care
• Maintain a safe, clean treatment area and ensure compliance with infection control and safety policies
• Provide compassionate education and encouragement to help patients reach meaningful functional goals

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Valid PTA license in Kansas (or compact/state licensure as required prior to start)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
• Comfortable working with a wide range of patient populations in a post-acute/rehab setting
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
• Travel/contract experience or prior facility-based rehab experience is a plus

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
• Gait training and mobility aid fitting
• Knowledge of modalities and manual therapy techniques appropriate to PTA scope
• Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
• Patient safety, transfer techniques, and fall prevention strategies
• Strong clinical reasoning, time management, and patient education skills
