Roles & Responsibilities

Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies and ensure a comfortable, safe experience
Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans following established protocols
Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately while documenting doses
Operate and maintain imaging equipment including gamma camera and dose calibrator; troubleshoot and report issues
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and ensure proper use of PPE and leaded protective equipment
Communicate findings and patient status clearly with radiologists and physicians
Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support staff learning and development

Qualifications

Current Hawaii licensure as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required)
Current BLS/HCP certification (required)
One year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical administration, and radiation safety
Strong critical thinking and communication skills; ability to care for patients of all ages

Education

Current Hawaii Nuclear Medicine Technologist licensure
Current BLS/HCP certification
Formal training or certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology (program completion expected)

Knowledge & Skills

Patient preparation and patient-centered care for nuclear medicine procedures
Radiopharmaceutical handling and dose calculation
Gamma camera operation and diagnostic nuclear medicine scanning
Dose calibrator, well counter, survey meter, and thyroid uptake probe operation
Radiation safety and adherence to safety protocols
Equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation
Ability to communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams
