Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient education about diagnoses, treatments and supportive care
• Prepare and perform lab draws and EKGs with accuracy and attention to patient comfort
• Support the Hematology & Oncology team during chemotherapy and other therapies
• Assist with clinical procedures, monitor patients and document findings in the chart
• Triage patient concerns, communicate with providers, and help coordinate follow-up care
• Maintain clinical supplies and ensure treatment areas are organized and safe

Qualifications

• Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required
• Healthcare Provider BLS required
• Previous medical back office experience or completion of a Medical Assistant/CMA program preferred
• Lab and EKG experience preferred
• Experience in hematology/oncology or a related specialty is a plus

Education

• Registered or Certified Medical Assistant required
• Completion of Medical Assistant/CMA training program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient education and supportive care skills for oncology patients
• Clinical skills in phlebotomy and basic EKG testing
• Comfort working in a multidisciplinary cancer care environment
• Good documentation habits and electronic health record familiarity
• Able to communicate empathetically with patients and families
