Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate psychiatric and vocational nursing care to patients in a correctional facility setting
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with facility policies and nursing scope
• Conduct patient observations, assessments, and documentation to support continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered plans
• Use de-escalation and crisis-intervention techniques to maintain a safe environment
• Participate in training and orientation during the initial two-week schedule to ensure competency

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) credential
• Experience or training in psychiatric nursing or vocational nursing (prior correctional experience a plus)
• Willingness to work the posted schedule: Tue-Sat evenings and attend the 2-week day training
• Strong communication skills and ability to document accurately
• Ability to work professionally in a secure correctional facility environment
• Current immunizations and ability to meet any facility-required clearances and screenings

Education

• Completion of an accredited vocational nursing or psychiatric technician program or equivalent clinical training

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational psychiatric nursing knowledge and behavioral health best practices
• Medication administration and basic clinical skills for LVN/LPT scope
• De-escalation, crisis intervention, and safety techniques
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Ability to follow policies and maintain security protocols in correctional settings
• Teamwork, adaptability, and a calm presence under pressure
