Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care to birthing families
• Assess and continuously monitor maternal and fetal status using established protocols
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care when needed
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately and timely in the medical record
• Participate in emergency responses and escalate concerns promptly to ensure patient safety
• Support family education and emotional needs throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum

Qualifications

• Active RN license (current and in good standing) - facility will verify license and certifications
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
• NIHSS certification required
• Completion of facility-required competency testing such as Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing
• Ability to meet personal health requirements (vaccinations, fit test, TB screening, drug screen, color vision, physical/health statement)

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in Labor and Delivery nursing and maternal-fetal assessment
• Fetal monitoring interpretation and electronic fetal monitoring experience
• Neonatal resuscitation knowledge and comfort with newborn stabilization
• Strong critical thinking and rapid decision-making in high-acuity situations
• Effective communication and teamwork across multidisciplinary care teams
• Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
