Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and kindness
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper techniques to prevent injury
• Take and record vital signs and report changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities
• Maintain accurate documentation of care and follow care plans created by the clinical team
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
• Communicate clearly with nurses, therapists, and family members to ensure coordinated care

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent credential
• Comfortable working with older adults and an understanding of geriatric care needs
• Ability to pass facility background check and drug screening as required
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy (facility may provide specifics)
• Strong observational and communication skills; dependable and compassionate

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Basic patient care and ADL support
• Safe resident transfer and mobility assistance
• Accurate vital sign measurement and documentation
• Infection control best practices and PPE use
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
• Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and clinical teams
