Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents — assist with ADLs like bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Take and record vital signs accurately and alert the team to changes
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
- Communicate clearly with nurses and families to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain a clean, comfortable environment and follow infection control practices
- Document care and observations thoroughly in facility records
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification/license in Connecticut (required)
- Current CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and strong communication skills
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completed and current CNA training program and certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamentals of patient care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Basic vital sign measurement and recognition of abnormal findings
- Infection control procedures and safe patient handling
- Clear documentation and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
