Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to acute patients, supporting activities of daily living
- Assist with safe patient transfers, mobility and positioning to promote comfort and recovery
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team
- Maintain clear, timely documentation to support excellent continuity of care
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
- Support patient and family education with kindness and clarity
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in good standing
- Active or eligible for Hawaii CNA credentialing
- Comfort and competence working in an acute care environment
- Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and adapt to unit needs
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a team-oriented mindset
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA program and active CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Practical knowledge of patient care basics including ADLs and vital signs
- Familiarity with acute care workflows and safety standards
- Basic charting and documentation skills; attention to detail
- Infection prevention and patient safety practices
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting and remain calm under pressure
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
