Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support and mentorship to new hires, experienced staff, and students to strengthen bedside practice
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and ongoing educational programs and in-service training
• Serve as a clinical resource for complex patient care, medication administration, and unit-specific procedures
• Act as a liaison between frontline nursing staff and leadership, communicating concerns and driving improvements
• Analyze patient care data to identify practice gaps and design interventions to close them
• Facilitate implementation of new clinical protocols, equipment, and evidence-based practices
• Perform quality control audits and report findings to enhance safety, compliance, and care quality
• Advocate for patients and families and promote adherence to regulatory and infection control standards

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license for the state of Alaska
• Nursing degree required; BSN preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings preferred
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS (American Heart Association) required
• Clinical Competency Assessment and High Risk Competency (SEARHC) required or supported
• Strong clinical teaching, leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams and adapt to varying schedules

Education

• Nursing degree required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg clinical practice standards and safe medication administration
• Proven skills in comprehensive patient assessment and assisting with specialized procedures
• Experience with evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and gap analysis
• Proficient with electronic health records and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Effective communication strategies for education, coaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Critical thinking, patient advocacy, and calm decision-making in high-stress situations
