Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility
- Measure and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team
- Support safe transfers and positioning following facility protocols
- Document care clearly in the resident record and communicate effectively with teammates
- Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification valid in Connecticut
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
- Comfortable with direct patient care and lifting/assisting residents as needed
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on personal care and resident assistance
- Taking and recording vital signs accurately
- Infection control and safe body mechanics
- Basic charting and familiarity with electronic health records or paper charts
- Effective communication with residents, families and clinical staff
- Attention to detail and a compassionate bedside manner
