Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Monitor and record vital signs, behaviors, and changes in condition, communicating concerns to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow facility policies for charting and care plans
• Assist with meal service, hygiene, and maintaining a clean, comfortable environment
• Implement infection control practices and follow safety protocols to protect residents and staff
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure residents receive person-centered care

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing
• Ability to meet New Mexico state CNA requirements and any facility-specific credentialing
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Clear background check, drug screen, and up-to-date immunizations per facility policy
• Comfort with night-shift duties and flexible availability to cover PRN block shifts
• Prior experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or dementia care preferred but new grads welcome

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved CNA training program and current CNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for resident-centered care
• Knowledge of basic clinical skills: vital signs, ADLs, safe transfers
• Familiarity with infection control, safety protocols, and resident rights
• Ability to observe and report changes in condition accurately and promptly
• Basic charting and documentation skills; willingness to learn facility EMR
• Teamwork mindset and reliable time management for night-shift responsibilities
