Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral catheterization procedures, ensuring safe, efficient patient care.
• Prepare patients and procedure rooms prior to cases, including set up, verification of documentation/consent, and infection control–compliant turnover after each procedure.
• Operate and utilize x-ray/fluoroscopy equipment accurately and independently while enforcing radiation safety protocols.
• Monitor, document, and chart all procedures in the MacLab system with attention to detail and regulatory compliance.
• Obtain and ensure hemostasis following procedures and assist with intra-coronary medication administration per Bayhealth/unit policies.
• Support professional growth through participation in unit education, in-services, workshops, and by maintaining required certifications.
• Complete assigned duties within the scope of the role to contribute to efficient cath lab operations and excellent patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Required: Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program.
• Required credentials: RCIS if from a Cardiovascular Technology program, or ARRT (RT) if from a Radiologic Technologist program (must obtain within 4 months if not already held).
• ACLS and BLS required (BLS/ACLS to be obtained within 90 days if not already current).
• Experience: 18 months of diagnostic radiology experience OR completion of an accredited radiologic technology or cardiovascular technology program plus letter of recommendation from program director and clinical site preceptor.
• Preferred: 2 years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab performing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures; prior EP or interventional lab experience is a plus.

Education

• Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or Cardiovascular Technology (required)
• Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac catheterization and peripheral angiography techniques
• X-ray/fluoroscopy operation and radiation safety practices
• MacLab procedure documentation and workflow
• Hemostasis techniques and vascular access management
• Intra-coronary medication administration per protocol
• Infection control and procedure room turnover
• Strong patient preparation, monitoring, and communication skills
