Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform cardiac diagnostic imaging procedures including 2D and Doppler modalities to study heart anatomy and hemodynamics
• Review medical history and direct exams based on patient information
• Calculate cardiac parameters online to quantify function and hemodynamics
• Report abnormal findings to Cardiologists and safeguard patients when abnormal results are identified
• Assist Cardiologists during transesophageal echocardiograms
• Prioritize requests based on nature and patient condition, coordinating with healthcare team
• Delegate tasks appropriately and assist lead echo technician when needed
• Monitor report turnaround times and ensure reports reach appropriate Cardiologists
• Operate stress testing equipment and perform 12-lead ECGs when necessary
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and troubleshoot PACS issues

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Formal training from an accredited medical sonography program specializing in cardiac sonography
• Credentialed by ARDMS as Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) (AE)
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a cardiac sonographer
• Good computer, verbal, and written communication skills

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Formal training from an accredited medical sonography program specializing in cardiac sonography

Knowledge & Skills

• Expert knowledge of echocardiography, Doppler, 2D imaging, and stress testing
• Ability to interpret cardiac arrhythmias and understand cardiac medications
• Familiarity with JCAHO guidelines and echo PACS systems
• Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities
• Physical ability to push equipment and perform necessary movements
