Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate bedside care and support residents with dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Take and document vital signs accurately and report any changes to the nurse
• Support safe patient transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
• Maintain a clean, safe and respectful environment for residents
• Communicate clearly with nurses, families and the care team to support continuity of care
• Document care interventions in charts or electronic systems in a timely manner
• Participate in infection control procedures and follow facility policies

Qualifications

• Current CNA certification (New Mexico state registry) or eligibility to obtain one
• Active state CNA listing in the New Mexico registry preferred
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from an approved provider (AHA preferred)
• Current immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role (lifting, standing, assisting patients)
• Previous experience in long-term care, rehab, or acute settings is a plus but not required

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• State-approved CNA training program completion and certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of infection control and resident safety practices
• Comfortable with basic clinical tasks: vitals, transfers, ADL assistance
• Good observational skills and ability to recognize/report changes in condition
• Reliable documentation and basic charting skills
• Effective, compassionate communication with residents and families
• Team player attitude and ability to follow care plans and directions
