Roles & Responsibilities

• Scrub open-heart and vascular procedures with precision and steady focus
• Serve as First Assist in the OR when required, supporting surgeons during critical moments
• Prepare, organize and maintain sterile instruments and OR equipment before, during and after cases
• Document case details and patient care accurately using Meditech
• Communicate clearly with perioperative team members to ensure smooth patient flow and safety
• Be ready to float to the Main OR and respond to on-call requests on weekdays and weekends
• Deliver professional, polite patient interactions that support a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of OR experience (cardiac/vascular experience strongly preferred)
• Must be able to scrub open-heart cases — this is a firm requirement for the role
• Experience as First Assist in the OR or equivalent demonstrated capability
• CST/ORT credential preferred but not required (certifications not mandated for this unit)
• Comfortable documenting in Meditech or similar electronic health record systems
• Willingness to work flexible shift lengths and provide on-call coverage

Education

• Surgical technologist training/certificate or equivalent preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent (minimum)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven competence in open-heart and vascular scrubbing techniques
• Familiarity with endovascular procedures is a plus
• Strong sterile technique and instrument handling skills
• Solid teamwork, communication and situational awareness in high-acuity OR settings
• Ability to adapt and float to other OR suites as needed
• Patient-centered approach with professional bedside manner
