Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based, skilled rehabilitative treatment interventions under PT supervision
• Administer manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, ambulation training, modalities, and assistive device instruction
• Assess patient progress and communicate adjustments to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Document regulatory- and clinically-required information accurately in the electronic health record
• Record treatment minutes precisely and maintain timely patient records
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review, and rehab meetings to drive quality outcomes
• Provide patient and family education, counseling, and discharge input to support ongoing care
• Coordinate DME/supplies with the supervising PT and facility resources
• Supervise and support PTA students under PT guidance, fostering the next generation of clinicians

Qualifications

• Active PTA license (state licensure required; Missouri license accepted; compact allowed)
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience (required)
• Experience in Long Term Care or rehabilitation settings (required)
• Proven ability with documentation and electronic health records
• Comfortable supervising students and participating in team-based care
• Adherence to APTA and state practice acts, professional ethics, and facility policies

Knowledge & Skills

• Evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning for rehab interventions
• Skilled rehabilitative interventions including manual techniques and therapeutic exercise
• Patient assessment and progress evaluation to inform care plans
• Proficiency with documentation, treatment minutes recording, and EHR workflows
• Effective communication with interdisciplinary care teams, patients, and families
• Familiarity with Medicare A/B, managed care workflows, group therapy, and utilization review
