Roles & Responsibilities
- Direct foundation finance operations, providing strategic oversight to ensure financial integrity and compliance
- Design and refine workflows and processes to boost productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency
- Develop, monitor, and manage annual budgets that align with departmental goals and the Foundation’s mission
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to meet federal, state, and accreditation requirements
- Serve as a liaison between the Foundation and the hospital system — communicate clearly and build strong cross-organizational relationships
- Lead, coach, and develop staff: recruit, evaluate performance, and guide professional growth
- Analyze financial data and dive into the ledger when needed to resolve issues and support decision-making
- Drive initiatives that achieve measurable outcomes and support Parkland’s mission
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline (required)
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration (highly preferred)
- Seven years in a financial leadership role (required)
- Four years of experience in the non-profit sector (required)
- Experience working with Foundations (highly preferred)
- Experience in healthcare finance, preferably within a large hospital environment
- Experience with grants and grants management
- Certification or licensure as applicable (please highlight any relevant certifications)
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, communication, and analytical skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline (required)
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration (highly preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles
- Expertise in internal controls, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Budget development and financial planning experience
- Grants management and nonprofit/foundation financial practices
- Proficient with accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate complex financial info into clear terms
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and work effectively with diverse stakeholders
