Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients
• Perform continuous fetal heart monitoring and interpret tracings to guide clinical decisions
• Assist with labor management and support physiologic birth when appropriate
• Respond rapidly and effectively to obstetric emergencies and neonatal resuscitation needs
• Collaborate closely with OB providers, anesthesia, neonatal teams, and support staff
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education accurately in the EHR
• Educate patients and families about labor progress, postpartum care, and newborn needs

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state verification required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certification required
• Experience in Labor & Delivery and inpatient obstetric nursing preferred
• Completion of required health screenings and drug testing per facility policy (fit test, immunizations, 10-panel drug screen, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal heart monitoring interpretation and documentation skills
• Skilled in labor support, triage, and monitoring maternal/fetal status
• Proficient with inpatient nursing workflows and electronic health records
• Ability to respond calmly in high-acuity obstetric situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary teams
• Patient education, family-centered care, and cultural sensitivity
