Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent bedside care for orthopedic patients, delivering compassionate, family-style care
• Perform dressing changes and suture/staple removal with attention to infection prevention and healing
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tubes safely and according to protocol
• Maintain and remove Wound VAC systems and support wound care plans
• Mobilize patients using walkers, lifts and ambulation strategies to promote recovery and safety
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes
• Adapt to a fast-paced environment while keeping patient comfort and safety at the forefront

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — NC license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (hospital/acute care preferred)
• Orthopedic surgery or ortho unit experience preferred
• Comfortable with patient lifts and mobility assistance (Sara Stedy, Sky lifts, etc.)
• Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend as part of the rotation
• Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability in a busy clinical setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Wound care and Wound VAC maintenance
• Foley catheter and NG tube management
• Orthopedic post-op care and patient mobilization techniques
• Experience with Cerner EMR for charting and documentation
• Familiarity with med-surg equipment: walkers, bedside commodes, bladder scanners, CPMs, lifts
• Excellent prioritization, clinical judgment, and bedside assessment skills
• Collaborative teamwork and patient-centered communication
