Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing to a 20-bed unit, maintaining a typical 1:2 patient ratio
• Manage ventilated patients and perform mechanical ventilation adjustments per protocols
• Perform and interpret ICP and hemodynamic monitoring to inform patient management
• Document patient care accurately and timely using Meditech Expanse
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, respiratory therapy, and support staff — to optimize outcomes
• Participate in orientation and ongoing competency validation for critical care skills
• Adhere to facility scheduling and RTO policies by submitting time-off requests at the time of submission
• Support unit needs by floating to PCU when required

Qualifications

• Massachusetts RN license in-hand (MA state license required; facility will not pend license)
• 2 years current Critical Care experience (required)
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification (required)
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
• NIHSS certification (required)
• Own reliable vehicle for commute (firm requirement)
• Willingness to float to PCU (required)
• Meditech Expanse experience (strongly preferred)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) (preferred)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (preferred)
• Profile requirements on submission: work history, critical care skills checklist (current to 1 year), 1 supervisory signed reference from within past 2 years

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• ICP monitoring and neuro-critical care principles
• Hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive medications
• Proficient use of Meditech Expanse for documentation
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills in high-acuity settings
• Effective communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary care
• Familiarity with ACLS, BLS algorithms and NIHSS stroke assessment
