Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and in line with facility policies
• Assess residents by taking vital signs and observing for changes in condition, then act and notify appropriate parties
• Develop, complete, and maintain resident care plans and nursing assessments in a timely and thorough manner
• Coordinate and assign nursing duties on the unit, stepping into charge/supervisory roles when needed
• Maintain accurate documentation of admissions, discharges, transfers and incident reports
• Assume responsibility for narcotics records and ensure controlled substance procedures are followed
• Participate in orientation, training, evaluation of nursing staff, and quality audits to improve care
• Ensure resident rooms and the unit meet cleanliness and comfort standards while protecting resident confidentiality and rights

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license required (Nursys verification recommended)
• BLS (AHA) certification — current and active
• 2+ years of experience in LTC, SNF, or Med-Surg required
• Must have completed at least one successful travel RN assignment (please note on work history)
• MI CNA license listed as required in submission materials (please include if applicable)
• Current certifications must be active at time of submission and you should be able to provide supervisory references
• RTO (return-to-office/availability) cannot exceed 5 days; agency must be able to schedule fingerprinting and have active MI iCHAT account
• COVID vaccination strongly preferred; if declining, you must be willing to wear a mask and indicate vaccination status in your submission

Education

• Maintain all educational requirements for the State of Michigan to keep licenses current (state-mandated continuing education)

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication administration and narcotics documentation/control
• Nursing assessments, vital signs, and resident condition monitoring
• Care plan development and accurate resident documentation
• Ability to assume charge duties and coordinate unit nursing services
• Incident reporting, admissions/discharges/transfers documentation
• Comfort working in a facility with animals on-site and adaptable to communal living environments
• Strong communication with physicians, supervisors, families and interdisciplinary teams
• Participates in audits, special projects, and ongoing education to maintain state requirements
