Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents' functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy plans
- Deliver hands-on therapy and adaptive strategies to improve daily living skills
- Collaborate with nursing, rehab, and social services to coordinate holistic care
- Document progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care and outcomes
- Train residents and caregivers on adaptive equipment and home safety techniques
- Participate in care conferences and contribute to discharge planning and transitions
Qualifications
- Active Occupational Therapist license in the state of practice or eligibility to obtain one
- State-required certifications and clearances as applicable
- Experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting is highly preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and a team-oriented mindset
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
Education
- Entry-level Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent degree
- Completion of accredited OT clinical education and licensure-ready coursework
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled assessment of ADLs, transfers, cognition, and functional mobility
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment, splinting basics, and environmental modifications
- Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid documentation basics in skilled nursing
- Excellent communication skills for working with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage documentation efficiently
